Union Contract

Have you read the contract?

Here’s an easy, convenient way for you to read the most important document for union members- our contract. Signed between Kroger and UFCW 700, this collective bargaining agreement sets out the rules and guidelines that Kroger and the Union must follow, covering such areas as:

Wages

Hours of Work

Vacations

Seniority

Working Conditions

The contract is what guarantees the privileges and rights we have at our store. Without it, we would be subject to the decrees and policies arbitrarily made by management. Therefore, whenever management decides to violate a provision or right outlined in the contract, the Union has the power to file a grievance – an official proceeding in which the Union and Kroger come to an agreement if the contract was violated and how to make the situation just.  If the two cannot resolve the dispute, an even more official proceeding known as arbitration occurs where an independent, objective abitrator (or judge) decides who was in the wrong and can make the situation just.

So, the next time you think management has wronged you, check the contract and contact your steward – the Union is here for you.

Thanks,

– Steward Chris
